Why do we fall in love ?

Ever stopped and asked yourself ? ,
why do we fall in love ?.
In my own experience love only hurts ,
and now I find myself saying enough is enough.

Maybe it's that I have the wrong idea of what love should be ,
should it not be the best feeling ever ?.
Is it not like floating on air ? ,
a feeling that is supposed to last forever.

I want to be with someone who makes me laugh ,
someone who does not treat me like they own me.
To have more than just 'the kids' in common ,
someone not jealous of my friends I want to see.

Does the knight in shinning armour only excist in fairy tales ? ,
is there really such a thing as Mr Right ?.
Maybe I should stick with the security and stability I do have ,
but just lately I can't help thinking without love the future does not look so bright.
