Behind The Mask

by Silent Screams   Feb 9, 2008

There's a fine line
Between love and hate.
There is a strange feeling
Almost as if I'm going to break

What is it
With the pain inside?
Why is it that I cannot stop myself
And Continue to Hide?

A call for dinner
From mother; I tell her to wait.
And each and every day it seems;
I'm losing the control of fate.

I roll down my sleeves,
Throw out the paper stained red.
I walk down the stairs with a smile,
And Thoughts of suicide in my head.

But no one notices
No one can see.
That through all the smiles and laughs
I'm hiding the real me.

So thus comes in
Such a difficult task.
The one of living my life
Hiding behind the Mask.

I go down to eat,
And everything goes according to plan.
Even better, they never could see
Of how those smiles are just a scam.

After dinner, up the stairs
In my room, muffled scream;
Bloody razor in my grasp,
One slice and it isn't a dream.

Go to sleep, get up early
Have no breakfast, head to school;
Even with the pain,
Everything seems so cool

Walk into the class,
Playing with the bands
As people glance at it, my wrist
While never to understand.

So thus comes in
Such a difficult task.
The one of living my life
Hiding behind the Mask.

    I guess you know the mask must go

    Yes, I agree with the gentlemen below, very well written. I have a dear friend who goes through alot and resorted to similar tactics. I'm not here to judge, but it doesn;t seem like an empty poem...cutting will give you nothing more then release of emotion. I'd hate to see anyone suffer the way I saw my friend.
