Goodnight and Go

by Viola   Feb 10, 2008

No empty words, no metaphors
Don't say you love me when you know nothing at all
Of what brings tears to my eyes
Now save your thoughts
They'll only hurt more
Maybe you should write them in a letter
With the vowels left out
But don't you speak
Oh don't you open your mouth
Save your breath, you've done enough
All of your games have since long played out love
I'm tired of holding on to empty air
In a vacant street only you would fill
But you said that I, I should begin making my own decisions now
I think it's far too late for that
You've already made them all for me
This isn't a game I want to play
You spin me round till I'm dizzy
Then let me fall and scrape my knees
So don't come around here looking
For something to do
Someone to spend the day with
If you knew me well
If you ever dared to ask
You'd know that every moment with you
Is the reason I'm waking up each day
But don't you speak
I know you well
I'm only here to fill the space you made for her
And it's just too hard
It hurts far too much
Knowing I could never do that
So don't you try to explain your way out of this
Nothing of what you say
Will fill that hole
So it's only fair that you let me be
The silence speaks louder
Than our pointless conversations anyway
I'm trying to erase the reflection of your eyes
From my mind
So don't you speak
No don't you dare
I know your heart isn't beating any faster
With each word you read
This is just another one of my pointless attempts
To try and get you to understand
The reason behind
Why my eyes water at the sound of your voice
But I know you won't understand
Not now, not ever
So say goodnight and go

Very powerful, effective repetition of the words "don't you speak". 5/5 xXx
