A Forest Wedding

by McKenzieSerenity   Feb 11, 2008

A forest of trees and grass and sunlight,
The smell of autumn hangs heavy in the air,
Crisp leaves float on the cool air.
A girl in a deep green and pure white dress.
She walks on the dew laden grass,
A fiery haired man holds her hand in his.
They enter a clearing where stands a man robed in white,
Seated in the grass are the family and friends of man and woman.
Words are spoken in choked enthusiasm,
Tears roll into the grass and mix with the dew.
Love blossoms out from the ceremony,
It blooms in rainbow colors,
Each color is a present emotion.
The happiness and sorrow,
Love and hope,
Anger and laughter too.
Soft lips meet in a hard kiss,
Tears stop with time,
The forest gains more value than the world itself.
A lonely young woman sobs for herself,
Grieving over lost love.
Another woman leaps,
She catches the tossed bundle of yellow roses,
Holding them to her breast.
As the bride returns home with her husband,
She says nothing.
He can only find the courage to say eight words,
"I have waited a long time for this,"
And they enter their new home together.
Their child comes running to them,
"So this is love,"
Says the bride.
He turns and nods,
"This is love."
