The Universe

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Feb 11, 2008

Running round a world so bright
still shrouded in a cape of night
shaking off the stars in haste
they cling on tight, match my pace

the moon keeps smiling up at me
and the sun always denies my plea
the sky starts to cry cold tears
my eyes join, through lost years

I rest upon a wary heart
still not content, even with its start
I see a comet ruin a small green stem
and with it those beautiful words "Je t'aime"

The heart has fled and with it I fall
and almost silently I let out a call
to be answered by no one, but caught
by an unforgiving meteor, bound to naught

on it I glide through the universe still
at a loss for a love, a life, and a thrill
As I see the sun so distantly move
I close my eyes and silently disapprove

I run my hand over mountains of ice
and rivers of fire mystified by vice
still calling for the sun to relieve me
ripping away from stars, but still never free

the moon looks downward upon the earth
smiling happily without any warmth
finally bored of me I am thrown
further into the universe away from my home

still I watch the sun, it's warmth and its light
longing to feel it on my skin, to make things right
leaning back upon some distant planets ring
I sit and wait, for life is worth losing
