Broken Dreams of a Cold Chill

by JaM   Feb 13, 2008

Whispered to me are words of sorrow,
but not a single one could sooth this pain,
Every crack I hear beneath my feet,
bring back old memories that still remain.

I begin to feel something unknown crawl,
through the thick layers of my skin,
I can feel the dreadfully cold chill,
run through my body within.

I can't seem to grasp the idea
of what this could possibly be,
It takes the air from my lungs,
like I'm drowning in a black sea.

Vivid images are quickly scanned by my eyes,
as if I were looking at a film strip,
I feel the heavy wetness of a liquid,
which is my blood as it begins to drip.

Slowly I raise my legs,
and I begin to curl up my back.
I'm in a helpless fetal position,
from this unsuspecting brutal attack.

My thoughts are scrambled like eggs,
and I'm overwhelmed with fear,
who would have known the unexpected,
could be so severe.
