February 13th

by Jacob M Parnell   Feb 14, 2008

Desperation,
Alongside the unholy feeling of need.
Feeding within our own seduction,
Pilfering the solitary of their creed.

The final reminder,
Of just how lonely we truly are.
The loneliest day of the year,
The loneliest day by far.

February 13th,
A date forever cursed.
The epitome of all sorrow,
And our anguish quenches its thirst.

It exists within our memories,
Feasting upon anything thats whole.
Masking among our shadows,
Lurking beneath our soul.

It reminds us of our misfortune,
Relationships that have come and gone.
This day exists as a marker,
Of the fate we face come dawn.

For tomorrow the world is in love,
Yet we will still remain.
We will sit in our adversity,
We will flourish in our disdain.

We will long to remember the feeling,
Which no longer subsides within our heart.
Of that day we once were loved.
An emotion which we are no longer a part.

And when we slip into the unconscious,
Finally falling asleep.
The day will follows to midnight,
It will burden us in our sleep.

Because tomorrow is a new day,
The day upon which we malign.
When we give into our own affliction,
And submit our agony to St. Valentine.

    Hi,

Awesome poem. Well done. One thing...an improving suggestion. Change the title from "Ferbruary 13th" to "February 13th". :)
