DANCING SAPPHIRES

by katie T Scott   Feb 14, 2008

Crystal stars and crescent moons
wailing in the night
falling through my gaping mouth
i swallow all the light.

Keeping to my corner
screaming up the darkest hell
All the devilry and madness
climbing up the deepest well.

Quivering in the darkness
quaking breaks out all around
cracking walls and smoldering floors
demons crawling from the ground.

Smoking snouts and fiery stares
burning out my eyes
peeling skin and open wounds
blood curdling in the skies.

A song bird sounds above the flames
where angels fall like snow
and from the dirt rise venom fangs
that devour from below

Where there were dancing sapphires
rubies glow within my skin
and from them drop a thousand tears
drowning heavens in my sin

With every step i take in darkness
the sunlight fades away
and every single breath of ash
turns the skies to Grey.

On the highest hill i stand
beneath a burning oak
whispering on the strangest wind
for all the promises i broke.
Poseidon come and claim this girl
on stormy seas she sails
dismal hopes of a screaming child
who's whittled with betrayal.
