MEMORIES

by katie T Scott   Feb 14, 2008

Weeping, rippling tears of mine
Trickling slowly over time
Shaking hands and a trembling chin
Blood that's boiling deep

Tiny footsteps fading fast
Haunting memories of my past
Children yell and a giggling kid
Smiling in their sleep

Peeling paper, walls of white
Curtains hide you out of sight
Leering faces and a boxing ring
Fighting as they weep

Clenching, bleeding knuckles red
Vultures flying overhead
Cracking brows and a fading fire
Falling fast and deep

Thrashing shoulders, rolling eyes
Mangled screams then painful sighs
Silent corpse and a four foot grave
A bed in which to sleep

Gaping, echoing voids of coal
Every night they swallow me whole
Dreams of darkness and a screaming child
and by the bed I weep.
