The sun is shining down outside
Freezing cold and darkness here
Children's laughter floating by
How long, how long? Feels like years

Flowers, picnics, butterflies
Nightmares, am I still awake?
Swimming pools, fireworks, apple pies
Watchful, weary, take a break.

Sunset warmth, find fireflies
Midnight, moonlight, all's been said
Peaceful, quiet, dreaming minds
Running, falling, dying, dead.
