The Self-Distruction Of Johnny Jones (A poem for the depressed)

by Soulful Ensemble   Feb 19, 2008

Johnny Jone's one-track mind to nowhere
Has him whistling the lonesome city blues.
Johnny thinks he's somebody, somewhere
But he's on his knees cleaning your shoes.

What a boy wonder, with his pointed fingers
Searching out whoever will give him a clue.
He sits to hear his thought that lingers
It says, " Oh boy you wish you knew
All the suffering thats ready for you."

Johnny Jone's love left him
And betrayed his soul, too.
It ran out on a cold, hard whim
Possessed by somebody new.

And he misses her and he wants to die
And he thinks of her in the sky.
And he sees her eyes of blue say bye
And he wishes her eyes of blue said hi.

Johnny Jones just crumbles
Like something heartless, soulless.
His happiness just rumbles
And he's waiting to be blessed.

"There is no God", he says
"There is no freaking God!"
"What world is this?"
"We are all peas in a pod!"
"Trapped with no bliss!"

"Oh misery, I miss my love,"
"I see the flying doves."
"Death is flying around like geese"
"And i will finally get some peace."

Johnny Jones is gone,
His soul has left.
Johnny Jones, poor pawn,
He never knew of theft.
