They say the eyes
Are the window to the soul.
Don't look into my eyes.
I don't want you to see
Down into my core,
Don't want you to see the truth
I keep buried deep inside.
The lines of pain,
The lines of sadness,
The lines that score my very being,
Scorching me inside.
The darkness that consumes me,
Draws me deeper every day,
Takes me into its embrace,
Never to let me go.
The emptiness that fills me up,
The vortex swirling round and round,
The nothingness that has devoured
Everything that I once was.
