The end

At first,
my heart was rent with pain
seeing only loss
no gain

i broke us
you broke me
i realized with you
i couldn't be who i wanted to be

so i severed this tie
at first
i thought i would cry
and then i remembered

i remembered when you weren't there
and somebody else was
and i was in so much pain, too much to bear
but you just left me alone

so when i left you,
i thought i would hurt
but as i let fall the other shoe
i realized that there was nothing else to do

so now we say goodbye
and i won't even
cry
i will smile, because for a while you were mine
