Neighbor, You're getting older.

by Emily   Feb 21, 2008

30 states of spectators
A cement border in between
Opinions ignorant, opinions vicious
opinions ordinary and mean.

the uneven steps on pavement
the crowd is screeching in debate
"these days," "back then," "rebellion"
I'm not a renegade, so don't relegate.

I apologize for not being so engaged
with perfect lawns and images fake
I cannot sleep through alarming colors
Not when there's reason to be awake.

So hold my hand, let's ride
It's childish to dream
Together we can't grow old
We make the perfect team.

Goodbye dear street,
Things are clear, I'm growing bolder
Goodbye youthless town,
I won't stay long enough to be older.
