Out of reach

I'm out of reach,
Gone too far to be saved.
Too far into the darkness,
Into the abyss of my mind,
To ever see the light again.
Drawn deeper and deeper,
The darkness beckons,
Whispers in my ear,
Pulls me closer.
Wraps around me,
My blanket,
My cloak to hide me from the world,
To save me from my pain.
Safety net,
The darkness is -
Imagination can run free and wild,
Can do whatever I wish
With no-one to see me here.
One last glimpse of the light
And I am lost for good,
Consumed completely by the dark.
Lie here comfortably numb
And breathe a sigh of relief.
Gone.
