Begging

by Muthu   Feb 23, 2008

When a poor man asks for petty alms
He draws ridicule and hostility
But begging seen in dignified forms
Often goes uncensored in valueless society,
Concealing real incomes to accumulate wealth,
Contractors exploiting labourers by force,
Traders extracting more money than worth
Their goods for gain against law in force,
Officials asking for favours from
Subordinates to consider their rightful plea,
Legislators demanding large sums from
People for showing them favours illegally,
Are all simply begging in different forms,
As they violate values and norms.
