I Can't Sing for You

For hours on end we talk and talk
and I would talk to you for hours more
if my parents would allow it
now time ticks on
through the dead of night
yet laying here awake I still write
I listen to a song that reminds me of you
a smile lights my face
but no notes escape my lips
for something about you
makes me ever so nervous
and so for you I cannot sing
even with just mere thoughts of you
it is not possible
though I cannot deny
I wish it was
for you would like to hear
that voice of mine
but sadly enough
I can't sing for you
