Faith In Ashes

by Soulful Ensemble   Feb 24, 2008

I can't find the time to say that I
Would like you sitting in the sky.
And the wings you made to fly so high
Don't fly that well tonight.

You can jump up on my back
And I'll carry the weight.
I don't care if I'm attacked
For being the only bait.

I was made from ashes of fate
That brought me here today;
When you deeply burned something great
And then ran far away.

Its not up to me to see you make it
Its just nice if I stick around.
I'm going to help you see the pit
That you left behind and I found.

You always ignore what you leave behind
Even if its killing me inside.
I've looked into your eyes to find
That fire says you've never cried.

I fell in dirt for you
Crawling on my knees.
Just to say to you
That I did not agree.

You should clean the dirt you made
And save the pretty flowers.
Don't stomp the man who prayed
For just a few more hours.

Everyone wants to live
But they're too busy dying.
Get on the wheel and drive
There is sense in trying.

Don't have faith in ashes
They will not revive.
Think about the masses
Who don't even strive.

You don't want to be like that
Man whose got no heart.
That pushes everyone who chats
Because they are so smart.

I've crumbled before and will again--
Its bound to be the only way;
Anyone will get off the stupid train
And think of a new sunny day.
