I STAND

by Eric Draven   Feb 25, 2008

Alone at night,
with all the world,
Not watching,
I stand.

Who for the,
Understanding intended,
The love withheld,
I stand.

Who would be lost,
In the blackness,
Of the self nights,
I stand.

Howling like something,
Or scurrying behind bushes,
In the shadows of the unknown,
I stand.

Who would die,
In darkness,
Darker than their soul,
I stand.

Longing for daylight,
Through perpetual gloom,
Of a dead man's spirit,
I stand.

In a world of blackness,
Neverending anguish,
And pain,
I stand . . .

Until I embrace that elusive thing called love . . .

. . . And I stand no more.
