I was watching,
Along time ago,
Down that street that you called your own.
I was watching,
When you sat on the curb and threw stones at the wall.
I was watching,
When you played catch by yourself,
And saw the puzzled expression
When no one threw the ball back.
I was watching,
That look on your face
That showed you were thinking.
That cry in your voice when you shouted your name,
And there was no echo.
But you weren't alone,
The silence owned you.
I realised that,
When you fell back,
And the wind caught you.
