Kindred Spirits

by Eric Draven   Feb 26, 2008

Everybody finds happiness
In their own way.
Happily . . .
I can think of you.

Some people see only the sun
Reflected on
Some still mountain lake . . .
You and I can feel the warmth.

Some people see the stars
Frozen against the night sky . . .
You and I see their sparkle.

Some people view the garden
From the gate . . .
You and I make love together on a bed of roses.

To begin a new life together,
does not mean that we must forget
the lives that each of us
leaves behind;

But rather we should
Remember the differences
That brought us here;

And keep alive the memories of
What you and I are
In our pursuit of what we can
Become together . . .
