Drifting Smiles

Diving in all the way
Head over heels, heart in hand
Extending emotions ripping away
Not willing to understand

Breaking promises, unfulfilled wishes
Lingering in amongst the air
Hurtful words silently spoken
Revealing love was never there

Dying flames, once sparked to life
Drifting smiles fading away
Ripped at the seams, unattached
Too empty to care to stay

Unknown actions, creating pain
Nightmares all day long
Exhausted of fighting, giving up
Tired of being strong

Flower petals on the floor
Picked in between drops of rain
Shattered, brittle, incomplete
A heart that will never be the same
