The Hardest Part Of Holding On

by Some Random Human   Feb 29, 2008

In a darkened room I sit alone,
in this place I once called home,
no one there to see me cry,
no wings to spread, so I can't fly,
my hope is gone, my heart is broke,
and if I laugh, it's 'cause I'm a joke,
I wonder where you could be,
I wonder why you're not with me,

The hardest part of holding on,
is the part when you are gone,
the hardest part of letting go,
is the hand I long to hold,

I just dream of you, so I can't sleep at night,
I have no will, so I've lost the fight,
I wish that you'd come back to me,
and we'd rewrite this tragedy,
rewrite ourselves a happy ending,
and if I smile, I'm just pretending,
'cause reality stings like the winter cold,
if I don't have your hand to hold,

The hardest part of holding on,
is the part when you are gone,
the hardest part of letting go,
is the hand I long to hold,

Sometimes I stare out my window,
hoping that your face will show,
hoping that you might come back,
and stop my heart from this attack,
'cause it's killing me, this reality,
that you'll never be, again here with me,
so I'll sit and wait, and I'll contemplate,
why you have to hate, maybe it was fate,

The hardest part of holding on,
is the part when you are gone,
the hardest part of letting go,
is the hand I long to hold,

The hardest part of holding on,
is the part when you are gone,
the hardest part of letting go,
is the hand I long to hold...
