Holocaust Concentration Camp

by Alexander   Mar 1, 2008

You hear the sound of those around you dying,
nothing you can do but listen.
Listen, wait, and wonder
when your time will come.

Loved ones taken away,
you never know if you'll see them again.
People being dragged to death,
to the fire of no return.

You can hear the sounds of gunfire
echoing through your dreams.
Wondering when a bullet
will take you away from this place.

You hear a child crying,
asking were his mommy is
and you can do nothing but watch
as he falls into the black abyss.

Wanting nothing but death,
but fearing it still.
All you can do is wait
until they make you the kill.

Every night before you sleep
you hope never to wake up again,
because the next day will be the same,
with sound of shattered dreams.

The only thing left that means anything
is a small pocket watch
given to you by your father,
who last night was sent to the poison chamber.

You hold on to it and cry,
wondering why you cant just die.
Then the soldier takes it away,
the only thing to do is fall apart.

The sound of a serian fills the air.
The Americans have finally made it here,
they liberate the camp and save the day.

-----------------------------

Now you know why you didn't die.

It is your point in life to spread the message of those who lost there lives.

So that is now your point in living.

Dedicated to those who lost there lives during the Holocaust. May they all rest in peace.

Deep and profound. You described the horrible scene with great detail and it brought everythnig to life. The flow was rocky for me and this was only one stanza that rhymed which threw me off. The language was somewhat simple and I think you could have take this poem to a whole nother place with your words but it was simple. All in all good job. *4/5*

Who doesn't know about this. It was more than sad, it was horrific. Destroying human lives for selfish reasons, not entirely too different from today's world, but still back then it was at a peak. Anyway, I love how you spread your message in this piece. It hit heart and spread feeling and truth. 5/5
