False Freedom

We are like birds in a cage,
Chained down by society.
We try to be free,
But our wings are clipped.

We sing for freedom,
And we sing for peace.
If you think about it,
Are we truly even chained?

We still have our spirits,
And we will sing for freedom.
So much pain and hurt,
So many wars and disasters.

We are chained by the laws,
We think will help us.
But if these laws will help us,
Then why are we still chained?

Just like a bird in a cage,
We sit and watch.
We think this cannot be happening,
As we watch the other birds fly free.

They have their freedom,
And they are not caged.
Their wings are full of feathers,
And they are not chained.

We watch and think that things will get better,
But all we see are these bars.
We are trapped in these cages,
By the laws that have become chains.

We can no longer fly,
And we are no longer free.
Yet we still think we will one day fly again,
So we still sing for our false freedom.
