Snowflake

by reJoyce   Mar 3, 2008

Wind scattering snowflakes in every direction
I'm all bundled up to embrace the cold
Except for a hole in the chest of my coat

As snowflakes hit my leather sleeves
They thaw and drip away
Like the people who pass in time

But just one snowflake, by way of impossible chance,
Lands on my heart where the hole resides
Slowly melting into my shirt until it reaches my skin

At first its chill is all but welcome
But soon it becomes a part of me

And in an atmosphere of snowflakes
I rest in the thought of the one
Who is closest to my heart.
