God

I was so scared
in life and in that moment
and i wish i could have taken a picture
so i could tuck it next to my heart

we were forced out
the song still filling my ears
and all our hearts were filled with fears
and our eyes with tears

and i wanted to fall to my knees
i was so afraid
but i knew you were with me
i could see

you held my hand
and walked me along
helped me to stand
kept me strong

as we crouched in the dark
i was staring at that spark
that eternal flame,
lit in your name

and i knew you were good
and kept promises
like you should
because you could

so i prayed to you
i prayed for my friends
i prayed that this
wouldn't be the end

and we made it to that room
filled with candle light
and worshipping voices
fearful aftter their midnight flight

and the explaination came
we were told
that it was just a game
and i prayed in your name

"thank you lord
god above
for keeping me alive
showing me love
i know and i pray
that this love will never change
thank you that it stays this way
and i pray for them
your little ones
that precious gem
i pray that they feel the way
i feel right now, here today."
