Trying only drives you away

Behind my intoxicated eyes, they'll always be sober
I know that you tell the truth, but you lie to me
I'm well aware that you care, for all the wrong people
You know that I'm always there for you, and you take advantage of that

I told you repeatedly how I felt, you continue to ignore it
Sometimes I feel like giving up, something inside of me keeps going
You are my world, now you're just part of it
This probably makes no sense to you, that's okay.. things don't always come easy
Tough love as you said, yes. I remember every word you tell me

It may not be good advice, I learn everyday
That no matter how hard I try, words don't matter
And the more I push for something, the more it drives you away.
