Feeling as free as a bird in the wind

Close my wings or slow me down
I fly in the open blue
The sun on my back
A gentle breeze grazing my cheeks
Grinning wide with teeth showing
The first true smile of a new life in the making
No longer running to get away
I now run to feel the power I possess
Sprinting in the plains
Grass whips my legs
My eyes water and my jaw clenches
I feel the pain of leaving but know how it feels to heal
My muscles glisten as cooling sweat drips
The first real beats of a new love beginning
I have the courage to show my face
Free from the chains I was bound
A new life and new love has given me a new view on life
