Remember Me, Remember That I am Now Free.

by Daphne Darling   May 21, 2004

My time was near, but you already knew all of that well enough,
It just all ended too fast, too fast even for you to blink your beautiful eyes,
It all ended before I didn’t even get to say good bye, to say I’m sorry,
But know this I am sorry it all ended, I am sorry I had to hurt you so,

I wish I could turn back the clock and redo all of that, so you could be happy,
But I am gone now and can not turn back time, though I wish I could for you,
Remember this I would do anything for you in this life, you kept me sane,
You kept me alive for longer than I would have if I were alone in the world,

But now I am gone, 6 feet under, and still you weep for me, tears in your eyes,
Please do not cry; whip away your tears, I am watching over you, all the time,
In your heart, if you look deep enough, you will see me there still,
Remember though I have moved on from this earth I am still with you,

Don’t remember the sad parts of life, just remember how happy we were,
Remember all the laughter, all the smiles, all the fun and games we shared,
Remember I told you my time would soon be up? Remember you thought it was a lie?
Even though you could see me slipping away in front of your very eyes,

You saw it before it came; you just didn’t want to believe I would leave you behind,
You didn’t think we would have to part so soon, you thought we’d be together,
You thought we’d be together for all of time and beyond, you wished it truth,
But still I had to leave you, I did not want to but I had to, I wish I could have stayed,

I wish I could have said goodbye to you and everyone else, wish I could have said sorry,
So I am sorry I had to leave you all behind in my wake, know I did not want to so soon,
Know I wanted to stay with you all, share all your happy times, and all your sad times,
Know I didn’t want this to happen, I didn’t want to die like this, no not at all,

Know that I still will watch over you and protect you till your dieing day as you did for me,
Know that one day we will meet again, this time in a better place, a place of freedom,
Know that now I am gone I am free, that I am no longer trapped as I was then,
Know that even though I had to leave I still love you, and will always love you, to the end,

Remember our old saying? Remember you used to tell me “to the end I will love you”?
I still remember, I will always remember, remember all these times with me please?
Don’t let the memories die with me, let them all live on in your heart pass them all on.
Some things are now forgotten because I am gone, don’t let everything slip away with me.

Keep the memories safe, don’t let everything slip away from you and me, then I truly die,
When you forget me I will die in earnest, if you remember me I will live on in your heart,
I don’t want to die before you, remember we always talked of dieing together, it can still happen,
Just remember me and I will live on for you, I will live on until you die with me in your heart,

Then we will both be dead together; we will both be together forever and ever, if you want,
We will be free together; no more tears can fall from our eyes, happy for all eternity,
Just remember me and we will be there together when the gates of heaven open onto the earth,
There to see the last breath taken by the place we once lived, there when it ends for our dear earth.
