Toy Box

by Caitlin L   Mar 8, 2008

A toy box full of sand
Only three years old
A whole life to live
But she can't see
The world outside that box.

The years pass,
And still there she sits
Like she is waiting for someone to come alone
Lend a hand with that day dream castle
She builds in her dreams
To ride away on that white horse.

A boy stumbles in
Just across, he begins to build
The gate way to the castle
Connects in the middle, like it was all meant to be

She's all grown up now no more day dream castles
The real world she is sitting in now
Forgotten what life was like
So easy and care free.

He remembers how it was life
Not forgotten how to build and climb up high
He watches as she moves further away,
Tries to pull her back in, but he fails.

One more chance to show her,
He brings her back to that sand box,
Where it was only her world,
A castle with a little white horse.

Now there is a ring around her finger
Her day dream came true,
Only this time the gate stretches far beyond the castle
Straight to her heart.
