Black water

by StandStill   Mar 11, 2008

A girl
on a cliff
so monotone
her life
so plain and bland
a never ending cycle
like the waves below the cliff
black
and lapping
rising to meet her
she wants to meet the water
the inky black
the cold
to thrash
for a moment
then let the cold overtake her
to end it
to close her eyes
and just let go
but not today
she throws a rose
red as her blood
blood not spilled
a tribute to her life
her lack of courage
to do the impossible
to fly off the cliff
to meet the inky black waves
she'll be back again
but for now
a blood red rose floats away on black water

I liked the bluntness of this poem, which is very odd considering normally i hate short adjectives and such.
in this case however i really loved the choppy nature that followed the story.

However, i thought the story could have had more depth; as it was slightly boring, and didn't have enough emotion as i would have liked.

.....how can I possibly write a comment right now when I'm still shocked by one of the best poems I've ever seen!

This poem is full of tension and so dark that I could see it in my head, like pictures!!

    Awesome job! Keep writing!!
