The Dance is the Same

by Liisa Carberry   Mar 11, 2008

Shadows play beneath the full gold moon,
Yellow eyes in dense trees loom,
Generations of ebony fur,
Make night their home forevermore.

The noon day sun glints diamond bright,
Off the purest coats of snowy white,
Shoulders drop and tails held high,
These daytime creatures play awhile.

Mirror images of each other,
Molded of an ancient mother,
Never knowing the other existed,
Till fate steps in and life is twisted.

Those two worlds should never collide,
The long forgotten Elders cried,
Day and night is not the same,
Keep them apart the Creators acclaim.

Thousands of years it went just right,
Till one fateful day turned into night,
Eclipse the sun to fade the lines,
Two worlds together from ancient times.

Yellow eyes meet face to face,
Hairs go up and tails straight,
Prancing stiff to show their might,
Of day and night who will win the fight?

The Dance is the same of enemies old,
But these two are one it could be told,
The two eyes meet, recognition flares
One drops his shoulders, while the other stares.

The Dance is the same of lovers gone by,
Each step takes them closer to blur the line,
They Dance the Dance of day and night,
Till two become one in the morning light.

A few short moments changed the tide,
Of two worlds, one opens wide,
And so we hear springs joyful cries,
As on Silver Pups, the Sun does rise.

I think it is a great stroy that you have told and would enjoy seeing it again after you spent some time smoothing and carressing some of the lines for rhyme and rythm. You have a fertile mind that needs to be put to paper for all to enjoy.
