The Bitter Black Kiss

by Rich   May 21, 2004

My crystalline world dissolved
In a controlled cyclone,
And melting into the black;
Sleeping problems solved.

A storm in a coffee cup;
Raging bitter, black tears.
Filtered therapy,
As the night disappears.

Your whim, like the spoon,
Is stirring; disturbing.
My eyes, like the moon,
Are drifting; distorting.
My cup, like the universe;
The contents black as night.
The threads of steam disperse,
As the stars take my sight.

I'm a slave to the bean,
I need the bitter kiss.
My body craves caffeine;
The insomniac's bliss.
