Two cold bodies

by StandStill   Mar 16, 2008

Once upon a time
there was a girl
who gave a boy her heart
he was her very world

and he held her in his gentle hands
protected her from harm
winning her with a smile
with his loving arms

she promised him forever
that she would always stand
the test of time
no matter how far away he ran

and one day he left the girl
with the promise of return
and she waited for a long time
for him her heart did yearn

but he never did come back
to fetch the lovely girl
and she became old and withered
her radiance no longer that of a pearl

she cried bitter tears
as she played hide and seek
she kept her eyes closed,
never cheated, never peeked

she had hope in her heart
when the boy did leave
but upon his lack of return
her heart did grieve

torture in her mind and soul
the woman did endure
she stopped looking for the boy
and instead a cure

for her pain grew worse
with each passing day
she needed a solution
to make the pain go away

and whence she found it
cold gun in her hand
she said a prayer
for the horrid man

"i pray that he finds me
dead on the floor
and i pray that he sees the pain
that i did endure
all for him
i lived my life
I hope he is consumed with pain
never ending strife"

and a single bullet
through her lovely head
left the woman on the floor
cold and dead

and the man came back
with tears in his eyes
to find out where
his lover lies

you see, he had not left her
but was only waylaid
buying her beautiful tokens
and this was how he was repaid?

he cried bitter tears
with his lover no more
he saw no reason for living
and he killed himself, laid on the floor

two cold bodies
all because of time
it interfered and a lovely girl
had no faith in the one she called mine
