The Beginning Doesn't Have to End with Nothing

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Mar 17, 2008

I trace the image in my mind,
Of how it all began.
I think of everyone: mankind.
I face my fellow man.

The painting starts in black and white,
Color showing at the end.
The artwork coming into sight,
Sharp lines set forth to blend.

The picture is now complete.
So subtle yet so strong.
From my mind a sweet retreat.
What is it that went wrong?

I have wondered many times what happened on earth.
It started out so nice and sweet and then it simply died.
It's hard to think of the end when some thing's at birth.
I'd hate to think of all bad things happening worldwide.

It first starts small and then it grows,
Until so big no one can see.
It's such a shame that no one knows,
Except for those above and me.

The painting is exposed to rain,
The drawing falls apart.
The colors running down the drain,
I watch the paint depart.

An angel? Yeah, that's me.
Watching the Earth spin by.
If only they'd just see,
They live before they die.

---------------------------------------------------------
A lifetime could make a difference and so many people pass the chance to do something good in their lives that could change the world. Make a difference. You live before you die.

Oh, that is so true, about making a difference, this just simply blew me away!
I love this stanza and it just stood out to me:

"The painting starts in black and white,
    Color showing at the end.
    The artwork coming into sight,
Sharp lines set forth to blend."

I love how its so detailed! Great work!

    " So, settle. . . " << Do you mean suttle?

". . . what happened on earth" << Maybe try ' what happpened on this earth ' ?

" . . . when some thing's at birth" << that doesn't flow well - maybe changing " something is at ", i think it was just like off one syllable or something.

I love the meaning of this poem, darling. And, it's great. There were a few flow problems, but overall it was just perfect. You have a wonderful sense of what the world should be and who we all should be - now, if only it would happen, eh?
