THE LONG DISTANCE CALL

You promised the world to me

I thought for a long time it was meant to be

You wanted to be mine

I wanted to be yours

There was just something there

and neither one of us could be sure

You are from Kentucky

And I am from Tennessee

There is a long distance between you and me

I waited by the phone just to hear you voice

So, I could see you face

and know I made the right choice

My choice was wrong after all

I never got the long distance call.
