This War Called Love

by RB   Mar 20, 2008

What they saw...
We dodged the bullets of what ifs and could haves beens,
In stead choosing to lean on each other's shoulders for support,
Escaped as veterans of war, with a story to tell; Brave, they called us.

Yet they only saw what they wanted to see;
Only believed what they wanted to believe,
And the truth was nothing but a minor detail,
Completely overshadowed by our misconstrued tale.

What we saw...
Two searching hearts; searching souls, wounded beyond repair,
The battle scars that would never fade, constant reminders,
That the pain we endured in this war of love would never disappear.

We saw exactly what we didn't want to see,
Believed only the truth, no second guessing,
For the truth to us was the inevitable;
Entirely unavoidable, crystal clear...even through our tearful eyes.
