Aphrodite Tragedy

"Mirror, Mirror
On the wall,
Who is the fairest?
The fairest of them all?"

An question that rang out
from deep within a heart
Aphrodite needing love
before she fell apart

for even goddesses
who possess all they need
still occassionally feel
the human feeling of greed

and when the mirror
answered true
Aphrodite felt
rather blue

for there was a maiden fair
out there in the land
who was preoccupied by
Aphrodite's lover's hand

and Aphrodite wept with rage
she was the goddess of love!
how could such a foolish man
pick a girl, rather than the one from above?

Aphrodite, she ran out
and with a crash the mirror fell
Once his lover,
Aphrodite became the man's living hell

For as we all know,
triangles never work
always there is one person who gets burned
and one who reaps the perks

Aphrodite's lovely heart
quickly withered in her chest
she stormed up to the man
and the sight she saw did arrest

in her bed that man did lie
even though he wasn't hers
and Aphrodite wept a thousand tears
worth more than a thousand treasures

she quickly found a cold gun
and weighed it in her hand
took aim and fired at the lovers
the end was what she did demand

but even in death,
the lovers embraced
and Aphrodited could only
feel shame upon her beautiful face

And she tried to shoot herself
to cause an end
but quickly learned
guns were not her friend

for goddessess never die
And Aphrodite was no different from the rest
so all she could do, was sit and cry
and hear her heart beat in her chest
