I am the One.

by Natalie   Mar 21, 2008

I am the perpetrator of my broken heart,
By trusting a man I loved,
I let the structure of my soul fall apart.
I am the one who is scarred.

He does not care for words, poems or desire,
I spoke of the truth,
He loved like a true liar.
I am the one who falls apart.

I wished his mind I could defeat,
That I could just understand,
Hoping then, I'd feel complete.
I am the one who was confused.

I dreamt a lie and believed it real,
Went numb from all the pain.
Didn't realize he was not the real deal.
I was the one who forgot what it meant to feel.

I sacrificed myself for that man,
And was left unrequited.
I did all that a human possibly can,
And only then did I realize;

I was always just the other one.

    I really don't feel the beat within this poem, there is no apparent beat,you can see the rhyming scheme although don't get me wrong- that is probally the only thing i don't like about this poem

    so where to start, the language, well you have some very good words scattered about: perpetrator, unrequited.
    the structure of the poem is very simple, five stanzas, with a oner liner at the bottom..the last line is a good little technic, its the bang in the face when you realise exactly what this man did to upset you- alot of people are going to relate to this poem because of the meaning behind it.

    I sacrificed myself for that man,
    And was left unrequited.
    I did all that a human possibly can,
    And only then did I realize;

    I was always just the other one.

    this is definitely the best part of the poem, its very emotional.

    anyway its kinda on eof them poems where you cant write very much about it, and the way in which you have written it will make it a love hate poem- i'm indifferent though, its not one of your best. but good try.

    don't take that to heart either xx

    I did all that a human possibly can,
    And only then did I realize;
    ...........these are most beautiful lines....

    the poem does justice to the thought......
    the reader gets a peep inside the character....
    self confession is treated in a nice way

    I am the one who was confused.

    liked reading this one too.
