I'll Never Know

Looking back through this year
Letting the memories play
A smile forms upon my lips
But the smile comes with the pain

So many things have happened
Things I couldn't quite explain
Like the way you and I met
I knew it just had to be fate

We had so many coincidences
Crossed paths so many times
I felt like we were meant to be
Like music to a perfect rhyme

We shared so many great times
Like the day the rain fell from the sky
We ran for shelter, you stayed by my side
Watching the rain as time passed by

I saved every memory we made
Wrote it down so I'll never forget
I knew something was special about you
Ever since the first day we met

As time passed, I saw your heart
And slowly, you began stealing mine
I tried to stop it from happening
But I only fell deeper with time

I've never felt this way before
You make me smile from the inside out
I feel like I've known you all my life
With you I have no fears or doubts

We can talk for hours and hours
And never run out of things to say
When I see you, everyone else disappears
It amazes me in every single way

We went from strangers to being classmates
From classmates to being friends
From friends to being my wish
But here is where I have to let it end

I can't begin to say how hard it is
To keep all these feelings inside
I'm afraid of losing your friendship
So all I can do is hide

Sometimes it seems like you feel the same way
When you look at me with those eyes of yours
But other times I feel like I'm a stranger
When you turn away and walk through the door

I'm so tired of trying and waiting
My heart's had all it can take
I've made the decision to just let go
To save me from anymore heartbreak

It's hard to end the story here
But it's something I have to do
