Love the Sinner

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 23, 2008

Love the sinner. Hate the sin.
Where does it end or begin
Love the criminal. Hate the crime?
Love the great justice. Hate the time.

Many a great sinner has become a great saint
Yet it seems tainted actions tend to taint
It is the same harmony with a different song
When wrong seems right, and right seems wrong

To err is human and to forgive is divine
Purify our blood with consecrated wine
Do we have the power to declare wrong right?
Does darkness have power to turn the day to night?

I like the rhetorical questions in this poem. My favourite one would be hate the player, not the game! lol!, sorry, I know this poem had a serious side to it. Society is strange. It will never be understood. But it's always good to question it.

Very, very good, so much so, I've added it to my favorite poems list. It was intelligent, wise, deep, well written and...well, great. I don't know if I like the first or the second stanza the most, they're both equally brilliant. I love the second stanza for what's being said, and I love the first stanza for the same reason, as well as the way its put.
