Leaving a Mark

On your mark get set go
Is the cliché we all know
The story old as the human race
Sometimes ending in disgrace

The sun is seen from dusk to dark
And every day it leaves its mark
Because of the earths revolution
There is progress in evolution

Why are we concerned with leaving behind
A little piece of our heart, soul, and mind?
When it is over and all is said and done
We find we have been running from the sun
