One Last Love Song

by Daphne Darling   May 22, 2004

One last love song to be sung,
By the people of this desolate earth,
As the world shakes with the last quake,
The people sing their hearts out,
They scream and run, as it all hits them,
The reality of what is to come in this age,
So let us sing our last love song,
Let the words flow from our tainted lips,
Then let the cruelty take us in under its wings,
Let the blood flow freer than ever before,
Let the ground be stained,
Let the earth soak it all up,
Then once this song is finished with,
Let us sing our death songs loud and clear,
Let the world ring with the cries of children,
Let the women cry and the men scream,
Let the pain overtake us all,
Let it flow through the veins of teenagers,
Let the youth crumble the walls,
Let them break free of pain,
Sing the last love song,
And see the world crumble and break,
But it is too late to stop that happening,
For now the last love song has begun,
Try and stop it, but know that it can’t be stoped,
It has to be sung through,
This is what has become of what we had,
Never again will we hear the laughter,
Never will a child squill in delight,
Never will a girl feel her first kiss,
The tears will flow from a many eyes,
To drop amongst the blood and sweat,
When the song is spent, so will be the lives,
Of every person who once loved someone.
