Dad said he would call,
told me to wait for it.
Each time the phone rings
my heart, uneasily, lifts.
I waited all week,
to hear his voice again.
I hope he keeps his promise,
unlike all those other men.
Two hours go by
as I fall asleep.
My pillow lays wet
from the tears that I weep.
Dad said he would call
on Thursday this week.
He lied and he hurt me.
He broke my heart this week.
