Bright eyes wide

by Mr. Darcy   Mar 26, 2008

'We're ready mum'
The chorus cries.
Joyous faces,
bright eyes wide.

The door flies open
So, seven bound.
Dashing, darting,
eggs to be found.

Thinking, twitching
Side to side,
Why, oh why
so hard to find?

Every bush
tree and fence.
Looks the same,
No difference.

A cotton sheet
on cotton toes.
Scampering in
the deep cold snow.

Brothers, sisters
the same as me.
Searching, searching
nothing to see.

Saddened faces
Who just don't know,
Why this Easter
It had to snow?

This really created a real picture, I love your writing its very descriptive. I could clearly imagine little kids running around, all excited. I can remember things that happened to me also when I was younger, this poem clearly reminded me of that. I'm sure others were reminded of their childhood as well. Good write.

A snowy Easter that came early this year. Your poem reminds me of my childrens experiences here in the Colorado Mountains. Wonderful descriptive verse. 5/5
