Active Depression

The quiet seeps through as it calms my nerves
Quickly I counter what purpose this serves
I attempt to avoid this urge from within;
The intent to erase all that has been

Reasons corrode as I'm taunted by hands
They continue to tick against my demands
This life is persuasion, talk at its best
Nothing is real, just what we attest

All is imagined through what we perceive
If perception is false, what can we believe?
Again my heart races, encouraging pain;
The voices of others insist I abstain

Darkness comes fast, the nightmares run deep
Occurring on nights I have managed to sleep
Though I cannot recall the end of day one
I often envision the day it's all done

Why not today, and why not right now?
It's only opposing what you would allow
Persuade me some more, let's talk it through
You'll never see what I plan to do

And what will come of those embraced,
Who will not allow me to be replaced?
These feelings I feel will pass on to them
The only true reason which I condemn

I live for those who compel me to stay
Reluctantly waking to another today
This phase has passed, it is time to act
My dreams will sore, my will intact

With this blade and pills consumed
I'll fulfill the beauty which I've assumed
I wait for the quiet that I cannot defy
Happy in knowing that this is goodbye
