A field of broken hearts

by Zaxhar   Mar 26, 2008

I walk a field of broken hearts,
these were once the hearts of warriors,
warriors of a war called love,
some of which Ive speared my self,
and cast down after a bloody struggle.

Yet this night I fight a losing battle,
I shall lose my heart today,
for on this field of broken hearts,
no warriors still remain,

there stands a fair maiden,
hair blowing in the wind,
in her hands lay a crystal heart,
the most delicate of them all.

She is no warrior of love,
so innocent and naive,
yet still I charge her,
with all my might,
and spear her with ease.

As she falls she smiles bright,
which the darkened world gives way to,
for her she is the one for me,
yet I sadly failed to see it.

Her crystal heart which shattered,
has powers beyond all knowing,
and slowly finds a way to heal,
and become whole once again.

This time I cast away,
my weapons and my armor,
while dropping to my knees,
this warrior who was once so great,
gives himself to you.

His heart is brave and full of love,
and is willing to sacrifice,
yet even the greatest are not perfect,
warrior and maidens alike,

must all be willing to understand,
to talk and not strife.

So now I ask for your forgiveness,
I hold my heart in shaking hands,
knowing the end is near,
yet I tell to you I stay dear,

in hopes you will come to realize,
the foolishness of my ways,
this warrior has laid down his weapons,
for the rest of his days.
