With Loving Hands

by Hillary Herbert   Mar 27, 2008

Darkness was all around me,
yet people saw false light.
A mesmerizing happiness
That feigned love and delight.
My soul was screaming,"Look at me!
Can't you see the pain?"
My heart was weeping tearfully
Because of all the shame.
Then you came with loving hands
To wipe away the tears;
Teaching me to love myself,
And live without my fears.
Your spirit is always with me.
Your love is always there.
And I can love you freely
Because I know you're here.
