Chicks caged in a shallow box
My colleague brought from market shop
Knew of it, placed in the corner of the room
By the gentle calls the young ones made
The chirps were pleasant to hear
Though disturbed the tranquil atmosphere
Soon came out all one by one
And started enjoying the freedom they won
The little ones painted blue, green and red
The sight was delightful indeed
Alas! Their freedom was short-lived
Again in a litter bin they were encaged
They all cried and cried aloud
But the cry of the meek went simply unheard.
